The holy Gaon Rabbi Hillel Pollack was rabbi of Sasregen, a primary disciple of the Chatam Sofer, who was called "Kodesh Hillulim" by his rabbi. He was born in 1810 and orphaned at a young age. He moved to Pressburg where he studied under the Chatam Sofer.

He married Rabbi Ya’akov Ber HaLevi Feldman’s daughter, from Monospetri, near Margareten, were he lived. In 1860 He was appointed rabbi of the Bodosh community in Transylvania after his father-in-law passed away, and served there several years. C. 1866 he was selected as rabbi of the Jewish community of Sasregen, which was founded at the same time. He served there 27 years, until his passing in 1893..Few of his writings were printed under the name Kodesh Hillulim (as he was known by his rabbi, the Chatam Sofer).
