The author: among the great Maramureş rabbis and among the prominent disciples of the Yismach Moshe, the Magid from Koznitz and Rabbi Mendeli from Kosov. Ordained for the rabbinate by Rabbi Meshulam Igra and served as Dayan in the Beit Din of Rabbi Ya’akov of Lisa. In 1802 was appointed as Av Beit Din of Siget and was the first chief rabbi of the entire region of Maramureş. His Rebbe Rabbi Mendeli from Kosov wanted to appoint him as Rebbe, however, he refused and accepted the mastery of the son of his Rebbe, Rabbi Chaim from Kosov. He passed away in the year 1834 (for additional information related to him see, Encyclopedia of Hassidism, 3, pages 141-142).
