Rabbi Yosef Zechariah Stern (known as the remembering and genius rabbi of Vilna the Shavlai, 1831-1904) was a rabbi in Shavli, Lithuania, and a prolific author. One of the most important rabbis and religious publicists of his time.He authored books in all parts of the Torah, and were printed among them: an essay on the Shas, a multi-volume book of responsa, a commentary on the Passover Haggadah, new commentaries on five scrolls and a comprehensive essay on Sages’ legends. On the entire Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud, Mishnayos, Tosefta, Safra, Sefri, innovations on the Mishnah Torah and the Sefer HaMitzvot for Maimonides, innovations on the B’G, innovations on the Shulchan Aruch, annotations on all Midrashim And many more, as he wrote in his book Responsa Zecher Yosef Part III.He became very famous due to his phenomenal memory, and the rabbi remembered the program. His memory is evident in his writings, in which he briefly mentions many references, about which Alter Droyanov wrote in the book The Joke and the Refinement [4]: His book "Zecher Yosef" is full of extreme proficiency in the style of short remarks: "Look here, look there", and they said of him (about it): "Full of eyes like the angel of death."
