Rabbi Moshe Kretsch was born in 1861. From a young age he was immersed in Torah studies. He studied under the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld in Mattersdorf. He served as a Dayon in Mattersdorf for over 40 years until his passing in 1928.
