The Holy Admor Rebbi Menachem Mendel Kahana of Spinka-Humenne was the son of the Admor Rebbi Tzvi Hirsch Kahana of Spinka (the son of the Orchos Chaim), and the son-in-law of the holy Rebbi Avraham, the son of the renowned tzaddik and miracle worker, Reb Yeshaye of Kerestir. His wedding took place in Kerestir in 1922, following which he remained to live near his holy father-in-law and grandfather for three years until Rebbi Yeshayale’s passing in 1925.

Rebbi Menachem Mendel & his family were  murdered by the Nazis Hy”d.

The holy Gaon Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein, the ‘Krasner Rav’ [1900-1979] one of the greatest rabbis before the war. He served as junior rabbi of Krasna, under his father Rabbi Bendit Lichtenstein Rabbi of Krasna. Son-in-law of the Gaon of Somlyó (Today Șimleu Silvaniei)  Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich. He traveled to Maran the Maharid of Belz and Maran the Atzei Chaim of Siget and was also close to the holy Rav Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch.

After the Holocaust, he established a yeshiva in the DP camp in Landsberg (Germany). Issuing hundreds of Heter Agunot and building many Jewish homes. Afterwards, he moved to Paris and subsequently to Williamsburg New York where he established his Beit Midrash and was one of the leaders of the ultra-Orthodox circles in the US.

In his Sefer Kavanat HaLev, the Rabbi of Krasna writes "Roni Akara" – his responsa concerning Holocaust Agunot.
