Sefer  "Tikkunei HaZohar", by the divine sage Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.

Livorno, 1863. Published by Shlomo Bilforti and his partner.

A beautifully decorated copy made specifically in honor of Rabbi Moshe Saban, Chief Rabbi of Wahran in Algeria. The Sefer has a leather cover with gold decorations and golden lettering "AH" Moshe Saban S"T (may his memory be a blessing). The page edges are gilded & have wide margins.

Rabbi Moshe Saban (1836-1928) was one of the scholars of the city of Wahran [Oran], Algeria. He was a wise student and knowledgeable in the hidden Torah. In his youth, he received Torah from Rabbi Moshe Knafou. He had a large library of over 5,000 books. Rabbi Moshe engaged in a polemic against the book "Zevach Shelamim" by Rabbi Avraham Enkawa. Rabbi Avraham responded with a treatise that was printed in his book "Taharat Kesef" (Livorno, 1860). The polemic over the "Zevach Shelamim" continued in North Africa for many years, and the scholars of Tunisia eventually banned the offering of "Shelamim" sacrifices.

The Sefer has 123 pages, which are bright and of good quality. There are some minor worming on a few pages. Binding a bit rubbed on the edges and spine.

26 Cm.
