Decorated with mermaids, seahorses and putti, the decorative elements featured on this lamp were popular during the 16th century in Italian culture.
The Israel Museum in Jerusalem owns a first-generation casting of this lamp, dating to the 16th century; it can be seen in the book "The Steiglitz Collection: Masterpieces of Jewish Art". (please see photos attached)
