A large, sturdy piece that is similar to the shape of a European architectural element such as a lamp post. Below the slot to accept money is a thick brass plaque with the words "Frauen Verein" professionally engraved, flanked by two Stars of David. Those two words are German for "Women’s Society". European charity boxes specifically for Jewish women are rare; in the Sotheby’s sale of the Judaica collection of Michael Steinhardt (April 2013), a silver charity box with "Frauen Verein" engraved sold for $34,375 (lot 361).

Wooden base and finial.
