Paraphrasis Caldaica en los Cantares de Selomoh, con el Texto Hebrayco, y Ladino, Traduzida en lengua Espanolla. 5424 (1664).

Song of Songs, trilingual edition: Hebrew, Ladino (in Latin letters) and Spanish. The Spanish translation is from the Aramaic translation of Shir HaShirim; bound together with Tractate Avot in Spanish translation, with a partial title page, the pagination continues in Tractate Avot.

Amsterdam, David de Castro Tartas, 1664.

Especially rare book. Listed in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book according to a photocopy of only the title page, & a article printed in Aalei Sefer, Ktav Et L’Cheker HaSefer HaIvri 12 (1986) pp. 101.

Present copy is an early edition of this book which was printed in a number of editions, for some communities in Spain, for the Shabbats between Pesach and Shavuot, who would read Shir HaShirim and Pirkei Avot then.

Seemingly this is the First Edition that printed Shir HaShirim & Tractate Avot together, with Spanish & Ladino translations. (The Tractate Avot was published once before in 1644, recorded by Kayserling in 1890, today only a single copy exists in a Swedish library)

Translation of Shir HaShirim was done by Moses Laniado, translation of Tractate Avot is attributed to Moses Belmonte.

153 Leaves. 14.6 Cm.

Good-Very Good Condition, light age & water stains. Original  leather binding with gold embellishments, lightly rubbed at extremities.
