Fly leaf with a warm dedication written on behalf The Gaon & Tzadik Rabbi Chananya Dov Kohn (died 1970) on the day he fled Communist Hungary with his family in 1949.

He served as a Dayan in Budapest. Following the Holocaust he immigrated to America, settling in Williamsburg. Highly respected, he was one of the distinguished rabbinical figures in New York following the Holocaust. Please see Hebrew description for expanded description.

On the title page, "Printed in Karlsruhe"; however, scholars believe that it was printed in Sudilkov, Lvov, Zholkva, Ostrohe or Tarnopol.
