This first edition was published in Lemberg, 1863, and was printed based on the manuscripts held by Rabbi Naftali Tzvi’s disciple, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman of Vielipoli.

Rabbi Naftali of Ropshitz (1760 – 1827) was the illustrious patriarch of the Ropshitz dynasty. He was a close disciple of the Noam Elimelech and a prized disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin, continuing in the Chozeh’s legacy. His tremendous brilliance could be perceived in his every utterance and his Torah courses were always filled with Torah secrets and hidden ideas.
