The Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld (1835-1883), was known after his Sefer the "Chasan Sofer". One of the greatest rabbis of Hungary and the grandson of the Chasam Sofer. Studied with his father, Rabbi David Zvi Ehrenfeld and his uncle the "Kesav Sofer" at the Pressburg Yeshiva. Served as a rav in Beklan and Sikso, where he taught his disciples Torah. Since 1877, he was the rav of Matersdorf and had many disciples. Gedolei HaDor greatly appreciated and respected him. After his passing, he left additonal Seforim and writings on Halacha and Aggadah. In a eulogy for him it was said that "The young Chasam Sofer has passed away and it seems as if today Moron the Chasam Sofer was taken from us".

The recipient Siegmund Pappenheim (1824-1881) of Vienna was the father of the famous Jewish activist Bertha Pappenheim (1859-1936).
