The Holy Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Yokel Teitlebaum (1838 – 1924) was the son of Rabbi Shmuel of Gorlice, son of Rabbi Eliezer Nissan of Drohobycz, son of the Yismach Moshe. He was a son-in-law of the Yetev Lev. Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Yokel studied by both his grandfather, Rabbi Eliezer Nissan, and father-in-law. He frequently traveled to Rabbi Chaim of Sanz who accorded him much admiration. He served as Av Beis Din of Barbasht, Gorlice and finally Volovo. In Vololo, he served as an Admor, accepting kvitlach and distributing segulos and amulets. He published his grandfather’s manuscript Responsa Yismach Moshe and Tehila L’Moshe recounting his life. His Torah novellae were published in Hativ Aytiv. His son was Rabbi Moshe David Teitlebaum, Av Beis Din of Lapush.

Although published anonymously, the identity of the author was well-known, as R. Yechezkel Landau notes in his approbation (f. 1v). Contains diagrams of the measurement of a Gris in different shapes (ff. 33r), crucial to understanding the Laws of Niddah.

Overall Good condition. stains, some worming in left and right margins sometimes affecting text slightly, text block split into three sections loose from binding, back cover detached no front cover or spine.
