Rabbi Refoel Norzi (1520–1583), was a Rabbi in Ferrara and Montova. In addition to this sefer, he authored various other important ethical seforim including Marpeh L’Nefesh (Montova 1561; Venice, 1571); and Orach Chaim (Venice, 1549; Amsterdam, 1557). He was one the most influential rabbinical figures of his era in Italy and a Kinah (Lament) was published upon his passing.
